Full Description
A chalk pit shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1885. Two chalk pits are visible on the north side of Hambledon Hill on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The westernmost of these is encompassed within a larger area of excavation at the northwestern tip of the hill, recorded separately under MDO49697. The easternmost feature is a smaller discreet feature shown as an old chalk pit on the 1885 OS map. This feature was digitally plotted during the Mid Dorset Downs AIM project.
