Full Description
One of a group of four bowl barrows on East Hill. In 1952 this monument was reported as being around 27 feet in diameter with a mound about two feet high. The barrow is visible as a low mound around 11m in diameter on a 1995 aerial photograph and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project <5>. The feature is still faintly visible as an earthwork on current Google Earth imagery.

A group of three bowl barrows, situated on the flat top of a south eastern spur. All are much reduced by ploughing, with no evidence of ditches. 'a' ST 6222 0242. A grass-covered bowl barrow 11.0m in diameter and 0.5m high. … Revised at 1:2500. <4>

‘All visited 7/6/83. All ploughed and under a crop of winter wheat. 28A. Large flinty cairn about 2’ high. No obvious disturbance.’

‘(28) BOWL BARROWS, on East Hill over 2 m. N.N.W. of the church, are four in number. The southernmost (1), within the 700 ft. contour, is 27 ft. in diam. and 2 ft. high. (b), 50 yards N.W. of (a), is 33 ft. in diam. and 2½ ft. high. (c), 50 yards N.N.W. of (b), is 27 ft. in diam. and 1½ ft. high. (d), 200 yards N.W. of (c), is 30 ft. in diam. and 3 ft. high.’
