Full Description

The remains of a post medieval lime kiln are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s (1). The square structure measures around 7.5m across and is located on the south side of Waddon Hill on the edge of the Roman fort (MDO2531). The lime kiln is shown on the OS 1st Edition map (2), accessed by trackways from Stoke Knapp Farm, which are still in use (3). The lime kiln itself is no longer visible on the latest Google Earth imagery (3). The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
