Summary

A series of medieval strip lynchets are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs to the southern slope of Chartknolle, Stoke Abbott. They were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP and form part of a wider system of medieval strip fields.

Full Description

Lynchets form three terraces on the south slope of Chart Knolle, east of Waddon Hill, and there are others on the south-east slope immediately south-west of Chart Knolle Farm. <1>

Three areas of grass-covered medieval type strip lynchets, visible on air photographs. B. Centred ST 454012. Two series of pronounced parallel contour-following lynchets. <2>
