Full Description

A brief topographical survey of six Quaker burial grounds in Dorset, which had been documented in reports on Burial Grounds (1843), was carried out by Gwynne Stock in 1994.

The Sherborne burial ground was sited on the inside of a right angled bend in George Street, and was conjectured to be partly under Coldharbour car park and partly under the garden of private semi-detached residences which had been re-constructed c. 1990 on the site and in the style of the former meeting house.

The site has been developed but the development was on the surface only and the human remains are thought to be undisturbed. No boundary could be reliably taken to be original so the original layout is unknown.

In use from c. 1693-1835 (1).
