Summary

Gate lodge and gateway to Canford Manor, now Canford School, built around1850 and extended, by Sir Charles Barry. It is of brick construction with stone dressings and a tiled roof. The structure is in a Tudor Revival style and consists of a gate lodge of single-depth plan with a one-room extension to the south. There is a tall moulded two-centre carriage arch set in a tall gable with an oval Canford Arms panel and flanked by shallow buttresses.

‘(30) CANFORD MANOR … The Stables and Coach-houses, partly rebuilt in 1963, lie S.W. of the house around a rectangular courtyard. The Lodge N.W. of the house, with arched entrance, bell turret on the N. and lodge-keeper's cottage on the S., was built c. 1850 and later extended to the S.’
