Summary

A short length of near-vertically sided ditch or trench exposed during an archaeological evaluation by Wessex Archaeology adjacent to the Headmaster's House, Milton Abbey School. The ditch is undated but may relate to the construction of the house.

Full Description

Part of a near-vertically sided ditch or trench was exposed during an evaluation of the grounds of the Headmaster's House, Milton Abbey School by Wessex Archaeology in 2007. The ditch was aligned roughly NNW-SSE and was about 0.7 m wide and over 0.8m deep. The base was not revealed. It was filled with chalk and silt. No dating evidence was recovered, but it was thought to be a modern feature by the excavators.
