Full Description
A post medieval chalk pit is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. It is marked as 'Old Chalk Pit' on the OS 1st Edition Map <1>
A post medieval chalk pit on the southeast side of Charlton Higher Down, Charminster, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs <2-4>. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
