‘Pilsdon Pen. During the course of many walks on Pilsdon Pen I have picked up artefacts from the surface in two places:
(a) In the area of exposed chert fragments just above the spring on the main footpath up the hill from the car park (ST 414010). The surface of the path is badly eroded at this appoint and the chert capping to the hill is being dislodged. Amongst the chert I have found:
1 side scraper on a primary flake (Mesolithic, 1 convex scraper (Mesolithic), 1 small black gun-flint’
