Full Description

Site of former covered ropewalk behind 26 West Street (1). The ropewalk was open to the east (2). It was attached to the rear of a warehouse at 31 Ropewalks. The ropewalk was demolished some time after 1985.

Robert Budden & Sons, rope, line, twine, shoethread, fishing nets, tarpaulins, sacks and bags, plough reins and halter manufacturers were listed in trade directories in West Street from 1851 and from 26 West Street from 1898-1923 (3).
