Full Description
Rails and stone setts of former tramway level crossing over old section of Southwell Road (now by-passed) survived in 1999, with two lines of three rails each, with gauge of c. 4ft 6in between the two centre rails. (1) In 1901 the tramway from Coombefield Quarry crossed the road and branched into two waste tips at the cliffs. (2-3) No longer in use by 1926 but one track course still ran beneath a tipping bridge from another quarry. (4)
