Summary

Field/lane boundary wall constructed of large quarried stones, several placed on edge. Main and most impressive section is along the north side of Barleycrates Lane. 'Megalithic' nature of stones gives an ancient feel to this industrial-built wall. Much is under ivy, but it is a feature most characterful of Portland.

Full Description

Field/lane boundary wall constructed of large quarried stones, several placed on edge. Main and most impressive section is along the north side of Barleycrates Lane. 'Megalithic' nature of stones gives an ancient feel to this industrial-built wall. Much is under ivy, but it is a feature most characterful of Portland. There are lesser stones in walls from junction at SY 68277108 to south and thence to west towards cliff tops. (1)
