Full Description
Balaclava Coastguard Station in 1889 and 1901 (1-2). Buildings remained in 1927. (3)
Buildings possibly associated with the 19th century Balaclava Coastguard Station are visible as structures on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the east of East Weare Batteries, Portland. The buildings are not on the same allignment as the buildings marked on the 2nd ed OS map. The site may have had some military function during the Second World War. (4) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
