Full Description
Timber derrick with hand winch, restored but an important survival. Formerly stood at Suckthumb Quarry. (1) Dismantled and re-erected in 1997 after road alterations near Priory Corner. (2) There was a crane, replaced at least once, near this location for loading stone onto the Portland Railway c1826 until 1939.
