Full Description
Built in 1840s to carry quarried stone for breakwater construction; 7ft broad gauge. Incline with Higher, Middle and Lower Drums. Jackson gives detailed description. (1-2) Disused (‘old railway’) in 1889 (3) but later refurbished as standard gauge for new works.
