Monument record MDO18137 - Greyhound Yard, infant burial, grave 4414

A oval grave containing a single infant burial was found in the northeast corner of the passage in the west wing of Building 5433 during the 1984 Greyhound Yard excavations. It is one of a group of five infant burials and was badly disturbed by grave 4404.

Found during the excavations carried out by Wessex Archaeology in 1984 prior to the redevelopment of the area of the former Greyhound Yard. (1) The results of the excavation were published together with the results of the adjacent Old Methodist Chapel excavations. (2) The numbers in square brackets below are context and feature numbers used in the published report (2).

An oval grave containing a single infant burial [4414] was found in the northeast corner of the passage [1994] in the west wing of Building 5433 during the 1984 Greyhound Yard excavations. This burial was badly disturbed a later one [4404] and is one of a group of five infant burials in this passage and is likely to have been a foundation deposit in Building 5433.
