Full Description

A probable linear barrow cemetery was discovered during topsoil stripping for the Dorchester By-pass construction. It was investigated by Wessex Archaeology in summer 1987. A series of four ring-ditches spaced no more than 30m apart forming a linear arrangment aligned NW-SE were exposed and partially excavated. These are likely to be the remains of a series of ploughed out round barrows.
