Summary

Seventeenth century cottage with colourwashed brick and cob walls, a thatched roof and brick stacks. Southern section was used as a Wesleyan Chapel from the late eighteenth century to 1927.

Full Description

Cottage converted to preaching house by removal of the upper floor. Appears of three builds, probably 17th century origin. Brick and cob walls, colourwashed. Thatched roof. Brick stacks. Part two-storeyed, part one storey and attics. Southern section was used as a Wesleyan Chapel from the late 18th century to circa 1927. First floor here removed. This section has ledged door in thatched porch. Ground floor has casement windows with glazing bars. Attic has half-dormers with casements with glazing bars. One earlier window with lead lights at high level in rear wall. Pointed arch formed in one internal cross wall. Centre section has one room on each floor. Large open fireplace with timber lintel and bread oven. Northern section, 19th century, of two storeys, has brick walls and modern tiled roof. <1>
