Summary

Parish Church. 12th century origin, enlarged in 16th and 17th centuries. Restored, and chancel rebuilt circa 1855. Stone walls, stone slate roofs with coped gables. Nave, chancel, north transept, south vestry, south porch, west tower.

Full Description

The parish church of Saint Michael at Steeple has walls of rubble and ashlar and a stone slated roof. The nave is early 12th century and retains the original south doorway. The tower and the vestry (formerly the south chapel) were added in the 16th century, and the chancel arch is also probably 16th century, although the chancel and south porch were rebuilt in the mid 19th century. <2>
