Summary

A mound interpreted as a probable Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1952 this mound was reported as being around 35 feet in diameter and 3½ feet high.

Full Description

Two bowl barrows. A and B. Diameter 12 and 10 paces, heights 4 and 3 ft respectively. <2>

The northernmost of the two mounds, 35 feet in diameter and 3.5 feet high. <3>

A. A grass covered bowl barrow, rather spread to the NE, with traces of a ditch on the S and W. Diameter of the mound 15.0m, height 1.7m. These barrows are situated at the lowest point in the vicinity. <4>

‘(8) MOUNDS, about 200 yards S.S.E. of Kingston Russell Farm, are two in number. The more northerly is 35 ft. in diam. and 3½ ft. high; the second, 25 yards to the S.E., is 45 ft. in diam. and 5 ft. high.’

‘Mound 4ft high and 12 paces diam. In good state of preservation. A ditch apparent in an unusually low position, badly drained and adjacent to a field wall to the NE. Slope rises steeply to the SW. In permanent pasture. 7/2/B.’
