Summary

Church was built in 1420/1 with a vestry and chancel added 1856-7; it is built of limestone with ashlar dressings. There are very fine grotesques on the eaves cornice, and inside are some outstanding monuments consisting of two fourteenth century effigies of recumbent knights, a fourteenth century tomb chest and an early seventeenth century sarcophagus of Sir John and Lady Williams of Winterborne Herringston.

Full Description

Parish Church of St. Peter has a reset south doorway which indicates the former existence of a late 12th century church on the site. The present building is essentially of the 15th century with restorations in 1856-7 and the 20th century. <1>
