Description

A passage was discovered beneath the church in 1991, when workmen removed one of the stones on the right side of the South Porch and recorded in David Ashford and Valerie Dicker's cellar survey. The passage measured 5ft 10ins high and 30ins wide and its construction included some Broadmayne brick and some Ham Hill stone. It curved round to the left and ended in a pile of rubble. The other end was blocked where it met the road. There was some possible smoke blackening on this passage.
