Description

An archaeological evaluation was carried out by the Dorset Institute of Higher Education in 1986 on the site of the former Parish Church of St Swithin, which was demolished in 1827. The garden wall of Allington Vicarage was formerly part of the north wall of the church. Only very slight traces of the foundations of the church were revealed, suggesting that the building and the presumed graveyard had been completely cleared.
