Description
Fifty one trenches were dug to evaluate a site proposed for development; an area of approximately 29 hectares of predominantly arable land. Forty nine of the trenches were 30m by 2m, and two were 15m by 2m. Most of the trenches were placed on a grid pattern, while some were placed to investigate anomalies in a preceding geophysical survey, and others on the line of a Roman road crossing the site.
