Description

Ten 1m x 1m trial outs were dug in this field, revealing an average depth of soil of 0.76m above natural sand, and a considerable build-up of medieval plough wash was preserved. Medieval pottery was recovered from nine pits: Trial Pits 048, 046, 043, 047, 042, 045, 041, 044 and 040. Pit 048 contained three subsoil layers above natural sand, possibly and irregular feature.
