Description
BUARC, Bournemouth Universities Archaeological Consultancy, was commissioned by by ESJA Properties Limited to undertake an archaeological watching brief. Planning permission (application No: 3/13/1132/FUL) was granted by East Dorset County Council to carry out alterations and rebuild an extension to the rear of an existing property. As part of the redevelopment of the site an 'L-shaped' foundation trench was mechanically excavated to a depth of 0.90m and impacted post-medieval layers and a Victorian wall. The natural, observed where possible, revealed no earlier archaeological features; however any possible features may have been truncated by later post-medieval and modern activity.
