Description

A trench 8.0m long, 1.6m wide, and 1.2m deep was excavated by machine. The trench revealed a modern pit cutting Victorian garden soil which was found above a deposit of uncertain interpretation, perhaps made ground or buried topsoil, or conceivably the top fill of a feature larger than the trench, which produced pottery and painted wall plaster of Roman date.
