Description

The works Near west Lulworth, on Bindon Hill (location 4) comprised the replacement of a transformer pole that consisted of two wooden poles braced to form a H shape. New poles were erected and the old poles were cut down leaving the bases in the ground. A total of four trenches were monitored, no archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were encountered. Within three of the trenches (Trenches 5, 6 and 7) there was evidence that the ground had been previously disturbed during the erection of the original poles and laying of the associated electric cables. Within the northeastern portion of trench 8 an area of shrub/ tree rooting was observed.
