EDO6935 - Blandford Waste Transfer and Management Station, Pimperne; evaluation 2019

Evaluation consisting of the exavation by machine of trial trenches to investigate anomalies identified by earlier geophysical survey. Most anomalies were shown to be of archaeological origin, and included an Iron Age farmstead and associated field system, with features suggesting continuity of activity into the Roman period. The presence of a small number of mid to late Romano-British artefacts and the presence of a probable coffin burial all suggest that there was a relatively significant Roman component to the activity taking place on the site.
