Description

Observations and recording during the laying of a new 250mm water main by Wessex Water. The easement (12m wide and the stripped area 8m wide) was walked over after topsoil had been stripped, spoil heaps scanned, and mechanical excavation of the pipe trench was monitored. One linear feature of uncertain character but thought to be post medieval was recorded, and some unstratified finds recovered from stripped surfaces. These finds included a prehistoric flint flake and pieces of medieval pottery.
