Description

Documentary evidence indicates that the building, vacant at the time of the visit, was a tannery built in the late 18th or early 19th century. The site visit revealed that tanning pits and other parts of the structure survive, though modified for use as a motor garage in 1925-6 and with later repairs. The west end of the building was rebuilt after being hit by a railway carriage being transported by road.
