Description

Evaluation of a site proposed for landfill, consisting of 2m by 2m test pits on a 50m grid, followed by seven machine-excavated trenches in areas of suggested archaeological activity. Trial trenching confirmed the continuation of a late prehistoric enclosure from adjacent fields and revealed a number of internal features and external gullies. There was a light but extensive spread of prehistoric occupation over the field.
