Description
A gradiometer survey was commissioned by AC Archaeology as part of the planning process for a housing development. The equipment used was a Bartington 601-2 with 1m traverse interval. Aside from the identification of considerable numbers of services running through the area, some anomalies of possible archaeological origin were identified. Some of these may have been pits or postholes. Two groups of anomalies coincided with two convergent ditches previously recorded from aerial photography, one of which followed the line of a former field boundary. A third group exhibited a pattern typical of post-medieval or modern drains, and a fourth group may have represented a former track or routeway.
