Description
An intermittent watching brief was carried out during initial groundworks for the construction of earthwork embankments as part of improvements to the A35 at the Weymouth Road Roundabout and Stinsford Roundabout Dorchester. It was commissioned by the WSP group as part of planning consent. A JCB type machine fitted with a toothless grading bucket removed the topsoil and subsoil to depths of 0.40m to 1.50m. Four profile sections were recorded, numbers 1 and 4 at the Weymouth Road Roundabout and numbers 2 and 3 at the Stinsford Road site. No archaeological features, finds or deposits were present.
