Description
An archaeological evaluation comprising the excavation by hand of two trenches, each measuring 2m by 0.6m, within the footprint of proposed additions and enlargements to the property. The trenches were excavated to the depth of natural subsoil and archaeologically significant deposits were encountered in both. A large pit was revealed in Trench 1 and a shallow deposit or layer of material containing medieval and prehistoric artefacts overlying natural subsoil was seen in Trench 2. The natural subsoil was gravel and clay.
