Description

Observations and recording during groundworks for a new replacement water pipe. No archaeological remains or deposits were observed. The trench exposed undisturbed natural chalk either beneath topsoil (up to 0.4m deep) or a modern tarmac surface (up to 0.10m deep) with an associated aggregate layer (up to 0.36m deep).
