Observations and recording during stripping of the site and excavation of a number of foundation pads and footings trenches; this was done using an excavator with toothless bucket. The upper level of the site, formerly a playground covered in tarmac, consisted of approximately 0.30m of tarmac and hogging over made ground. The lower level of the site, formerly a turf-covered playing field, consisted of around 0.20m of turf over a layer of alluvial silt around 0.40m thick on top of natural river gravels. No significant archaeological finds or features were observed.
