Description
In June 1993 a small assessment excavation was undertaken by students from Bournemouth University on a series of earthworks that were thought to be building platforms in a field lying to the south-east of the High Street. Three test pits, each located on a different platform, were excavated by hand down to natural Greensand. Test Pits I and II measured 4m by 1.5m, and Test Pit III was 1m by 1m, enlarged to 1m by 2m. All revealed signs of occupation, although in Test Pit III this was in the form of building rubble with no visible evidence of structural remains.
