Description
AC archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation of a plot of land adjacent to South Mill Lane, New Zealand, Bridport in advance of a proposed car park extension during September 2003. Four machine-dug trenches totalling 22.5 m in length were excavated. (1) (2)
Trench 3 was positioned in the central portion of the site. It was 2.5m by 1.5m across, aligned NE-SW. The trench revealed a 0.4m thick layer of topsoil above a silty clay natural subsoil. A series of modern sewer pipes and large fragments of concrete were exposed. (2)
