Description
The drought of 1976 revealed a series of parchmarks recorded through aerial photography. These lay both within the hillfort and outside its defences. Within the defences two ring ditches indicate the position of unrecorded barrows while oval marks in the SE part of the camp may represent hut circles. Another square mark NE of the existing barrow mound is perhaps a Romano-Celtic temple. A double-ditched sub-rectangular enclosure adjacent to the Roman road SW of the hillfort must remain undated but its size and location in respect to the hillfort is perhaps comparable to the excavated enclosures (1).
The location of these features is published in Green 1987 (2).
