Description
Three adjacent trial trenches (FR18, FR18a) were excavated to investigate soilmark features, by Wessex Archaeology as part of the evaluation of the course of the Southern Dorchester By-pass in 1987 (1).
The trial trenches revealed part of a curvilinear ditch which may be part of an enclosure, but the rest of its course has not been traced. A small quantity of Bronze Age pottery was recovered from this ditch, together with a large quantity of worked flint. The ditch was cut by an undated pit and another undated pit was found to the north within the area defined by the curvilinear ditch.
