The Water Barn
II
Former water mill. Possibly C17 origin but largely rebuilt C19. Now converted to house. Last worked 1956. Walls part brick, part flint with brick banding. Tiled roof, brick stacks. Two storeys. Main range parallel to river, and two adjoining ranges at right angles to this have separate half-hipped roofs with central valley gutter. Main entrance, on south-east, has modern recessed porch in old opening. All windows modern hardwood casements. Original roof structure retained. Cast iron water wheel on north-east. Under repair at time of survey. No internal machinery survives. A good conversion.
