Probably early C19, built as forester's cottage. Largely reconstructed c1926 - roof of this date. Colourwashed brick walls, tiled roof. Central brick stack. One storey and attics. Two-room plan with lobby entrance. Ledged door with stone pediment over bearing Greek inscription (trans. "Why Worry"). Ground floor has timber casement windows with glazing bars and, in south wall, one 3-light stone mullioned window - probably re-set. Attic has gabled half-dormers with casements with glazing bars. Internally,main ground floor room has large open brick fireplace. Attic rooms have exposed rafters. T. E. Lawrence lived here between 1925 and 1935 as Aircraftsman Shaw.
