Abstract/Summary

The sites of two boreholes were re-excavated and examined for indications of archaeological interest on the site, which lies adjacent to the recorded location of Medieval buildings including a church and manor house. Both Trial Pits revealed evidence for substantial earthmoving: Trial Pit 1 indicates that some loss of former land surface has taken place; Trial Pit 2 indicates that infilling has taken place above a buried soil horizon. Fragments of worked flint, as well as post-Medieval finds were recovered from this buried land surface. Neither pit revealed positive evidence for structural remains.
