Abstract/Summary

The archaeological observation revealed deep deposits of black garden soil consistent with many centuries of horticultural use. These soils were cut through by two phases of building activity, consisting of rubble containing brick, mortar, tiles and other building material. The first phase occurred in the early 18th century and the second in the early 20th century. The base of an outside ‘privy’ survived in the north-east corner of the site.
