Abstract/Summary
In July 2005, Terrain Archaeology undertook an evaluation of the disused farmyard at Fordington Farm, off Alington Avenue, Dorchester. A single trench 5m long was excavated. This revealed a buried post-medieval soil layer above the natural chalk, sealed beneath a flint cobbled yard surface, which was sealed beneath the present concrete yard surface. The only features revealed were a modern drain pipe trench and a modern posthole. A small quantity of residual prehistoric worked flint and Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery was recovered.
