Abstract/Summary

Six trial holes were excavated, followed by observations during road widening and digging of service trenches. Immediately north of South Walks and along Longmans Road, were found traces of the tail of the Roman rampart and 18th century walks. Elsewhere, there was much disturbance from post-medieval buildings, but some Roman stratigraphy and later urban soils were recorded.
