Abstract/Summary
‘In February 2025, Oxford Archaeology were commissioned by RPS Consulting Ltd on behalf of Bourne Leisure Ltd to undertake a watching brief and initial recording on the stie of an ongoing electric cable installation at the Haven Weymouth Bay Holiday Park.
Part of the works fell within the site of Preston Villa, a Scheduled Monument. Oxford Archaeology attended site in a watching brief capacity to monitor the groundworks.
In the southern trench a construction cut contained a Roman wall foundation. The foundation had been sealed by a rubble layer which contained pottery, tile and a fragment of animal bone of late Roman date.’
