Abstract/Summary
‘This Heritage Technical Note has been prepared in response to comments on outline planning application P/OUT/2023/00667, provided by Historic England (HE) (dated 7 March 2023) and the Dorset Council Conservation Officer (CO) (dated 29 March 2023). The consultee comments raised concerns with regard to the potential effect of the proposed residential development upon the Fontmell Magna Conservation Area and the Grade II Listed Fernlea Cottage.
This document seeks to respond to these concerns. It is not the intention to repeat information previously submitted with the application, and the Technical Note should be read in conjunction with the Heritage Assessment (Cotswold Archaeology, January 2023) which accompanied the outline planning application for the development within the site. The Heritage Assessment, which contained a detailed assessment of the potential development effects upon the heritage resource within the site and in its environs in accordance with industry standard guidance, is considered to have provided sufficient information with regard to potential effects upon heritage assets. However, the Assessment is not referred to by the heritage consultees, and it is therefore considered that a number of points raised in the consultee responses require clarification.’
