Abstract/Summary
OASIS: Bournemouth Archaeology was commissioned by Swanage Town Council to undertake an Historic building and 3D laser scan of the derelict Coastguard Lookout Station, a concrete structure of Second World War date located at Peveril Point, Swanage, Dorset (NGR E 40403 N 78635). This work was required as although historically significant the building had become structurally unsafe in recent years and was scheduled for demolition. The structure was recorded according to English Heritage Guidelines Level 2 standard, which included the production of written records detailing the character and fabric of the structure, a measured survey and a full photographic record. A 3D laser scanner was also used to provide a precise digital record of the structure prior to its demolition.
